Printable Map Design, Boards & Brochures

A map that looks clear in an editor may not survive a smaller print size. Establish the final dimensions and use first, then choose a file format and check text, legends and production requirements.

Reviewed:

Set dimensions and viewing conditions first

Boards, folded leaflets, visitor handbooks and posters have different sizes and viewing distances. Define the space available for the map before choosing information density. Reserve room for the title, legend, orientation, source attribution and essential notes rather than adding them after the artwork fills the page.

At the actual output size, inspect the smallest text, thin lines, service icons and long names. Keep folds away from key entrances or labels. A small brochure may need less secondary detail than a large board; reducing every element uniformly does not necessarily preserve readability.

Choose the format for the next production step

SVG is useful when a downstream workflow needs vector artwork, PNG serves image-based uses, and PDF is common for layout delivery. Check the actual exported assets, fonts and print compatibility. A file extension alone does not establish that every part of an artwork is editable or ready for a particular printer.

YunMap offers SVG, PNG and PDF exports, with quality and watermark options governed by the current plan. Test a sample file in the software used for production before deciding the final delivery workflow. Keep the editable project for later content changes.

Approve a proof and review the content

Confirm paper, physical dimensions, bleed, color treatment and image requirements with the printer. Screen and print colors can differ, so inspect a physical proof where appropriate. A platform export is an input to production, not an automatic guarantee that all prepress requirements have been completed.

During proofing, check approved names, orientation, legend, entrances and any QR code you use. Preserve geographic source and copyright attribution. Confirm that you have the required rights for photos, building assets and brand elements before a larger print run, and record which reviewed map version was approved.

Common questions

Is an exported PDF automatically ready to print?

Not necessarily. Confirm dimensions, bleed, fonts, color and image quality against the printer's requirements, and inspect the actual proof.

Are high-resolution and watermark-free exports available?

These options depend on the current plan and entitlements. Free and paid exports may differ; check the pricing page before committing to a deliverable.
